If we fall in the trap that Stannis thinks Sansa is now a Lannister, and therefore she is now a Lannister with no claim to Winterfell, then we’ve lost the plot and are coming from the same misogynistic hypocrisy (he wants Shireen on the throne if he dies but calls Sansa a Lannister, how does that work old man?) that destroys Westeros (your Jaehaerys example). And are no different from a crusty medieval era middle aged man btw.

My point still stands however if you see a controversy related to people in a fandom being actively racist and instead of thinking “I’m sad I didn’t notice the racism earlier” and more “splatoon drama? Yes please” I can’t really trust you. You see something that badly affects others and enjoy that for your own entertainment.

And despite a fandom being friendly to one or two marginalized minorities, that doesn’t mean it’s nice to another one. As how queer and neurodivergent friendly the splatoon fandom is. Racism still is an issue. All from people mocking the way shiver sings for people insulting frye’s clothing comparing her to a homeless person. To even comparing black people to literal monkeys.

It’s sorta like true crime. When you watch true crime, you’re going to see things related to a myriad of fucked up stuff. But viewing those things as entertainment instead of an actual way of learning how generally bad people can be. Shows how you view peoples suffering (btw true crime is still iffy I don’t really like how people capitalize on people’s death without giving ways to support the victims or organizations helping with issues similar to those)

Thank you for spreading information and sources! I have seen so much misinformation or straight up propaganda that it seems hard sometimes to determine what is and isn’t true.

Just yesterday, in my high school library, a few people were quite loudly talking about the white phosphorous claim, and were calling Israel a “genocidal settler state”.

I tried to refute them, and the argument got pretty loud, and was attracting others. I wasn’t worried about it getting violent, and I thought that they were obviously just fed misinformation. After all, we’re high schoolers, surely they wouldn’t just choose to hate an ethnic group… right?

And then I clearly heard one of the kids watching say “Fucking kike”.

I honestly didn’t really know what to do, I didn’t know what it meant, but it was clear that it was some kind of derogatory slur.

All this to mean, I am not Jewish, I do not even “look” Jewish, and I was called a slur for simply speaking up against antisemitism. I can’t imagine how hard it must be for you and all other Jews and Israelis right now.

Since you mentioned the white phosphorus lie, I'm gonna add a vid regarding that for you at the end.

You're right, they have been fed misinformation, and repetitive, false slogans, that invoke righteous rage, and sound righteous when people repeat them, but which have little to do with reality. These young people are literally being indoctrinated to see Israel as the greatest of evils, even while the Iranian and Syrian regimes are butchering their own people, as just random examples of much greater evils that are currently happening in the world, and have been for a long while. Just to get a perspective, here's a graph of the bloodiest conflicts ever:

Notice that it starts at 3 million fatalities. The Israeli-Arab conflict, with all of the buzz around it, isn't even on here. Why? Because the number of fatalities altogether, counting Israelis, pre-state Jews, Palestinians and non-Palestinian Arabs, is just a little under 120,000 people. Another example of the disproportion between how many people died in this conflict, and how much attention it gets (making it seem as being far worse than it is) can be seen in this map:

So as I hope you can see, you're looking at the ratio between the number of fatalities and the internet pages dedicated to them.

I find the most interesting bit on the map being the victims at Mariupol. I've seen this website rage that white people get more attention than POC. Well, you can see that the attention to Gazans is way more than what the people of Mariupol got.

So what makes the Israeli-Arab conflict get so much more attention that it deserves, based on its severity (as measured by the number of people killed)? There's actually NOTHING unique about it, except... that it involves the one Jewish state. Attack Israel, and you get to attack Jews. Attack Israel, and you get to attack the biggest Jewish community in the world. Attack Israel, and you get to attack and de-legitimize the country meant to serve as the Jewish safe haven. And if the high schoolers you were confronting got a diet of antisemitism at home, or from their friends, or they were simply sold this "social justice" narrative, that really stems from antisemitism, then yeah, they're going to be spreading antisemitism themselves.

Okay, I have thoughts on the debate around fanon's characterisation of Death Eaters, so hopefully I can say this right. I'm not wonderful with words, but I'll try.

Criticising them is absolutely okay, first of all. Please do that, we need more of it. When a fandom babygirls fascists to the point I've seen a ship fic set in a concentration camp between a Nazi and one of their victims, we have a problem. A rather fucking large one. So criticise all you want.

There is a part of me, however, that wants to use the potential we have in them being so young. They're in their formative years in a large majority of fics, and we can use that.

For example, Barty. Criticise him all you want, he was a terrible person. He bullied children, helped bring Voldemort back to life, and did any number of horrible things we should absolutely call attention to.

In the 70s, he got radicalised. His father showed hatred for what his son became, so we can easily assume he was not raised believing muggles were inferior (or at least not to the same degree as the Black Family, as the Crouches were still members of the Sacred 28). In my opinion, he could be used as a parallel to young men who go down the alt-right pipeline today. The narrative should criticise him— but I think a warning about radicalisation could be a fantastic theme in fics about him. And there can be a level of sympathy there, too— he was a child. He could have been good, and he didn't become that.

On the other end, we have Regulus. Being completely honest here, I may be slightly biased on his character. There are ways I will admit to relating to his life before I was able to go on the internet and find differing beliefs for myself. All the same, I'm going to try to keep this fair.

Regulus was also a bad person. He supported Voldemort. I don't care whether you like to think he directly hurt people or couldn't stomach doing so himself, he caused harm. Being a bystander (and that is the best possible descriptor you can give him with what we know) is not an action free of harm.

That being said, getting rid of beliefs your parents instilled in you is difficult when that's all you hear. Sirius was only a year older than him and figuring all this out for himself, I doubt he even knew how to conceptualise it for someone else in an effective way. (This is not me hating on Sirius btw, I love him. I'm just being realistic. My own brother followed a vaguely similar path, and he's one of the people I care about most in the world)

Regulus, at the same time he was a terrible person, was eighteen at most when he died. He did have room to become a better person had he lived. We don't know what he was thinking about when he was planning to go to the cave, we don't know if he started to question his beliefs or not. There's ways to write him, after finding the horcrux, as a more sympathetic character (albeit one in desperate need of a character arc).

I don't know. Hopefully this isn't just a bunch of rambles. I just think there's no way to write any of these people— when they're in school— as one-dimensional villains or undeserving of a chance to become a good person. This includes Snape, and Petunia, and any other kid in this era. We have the chance to explore what makes someone hate and what makes someone change for the better. Condemnation of babygirlifying characters is completely fair, at the same time that growth isn't altogether impossible.

But. Words. I'm not great, so tldr: we should absolutely criticise the way this fandom interacts with the Death Eaters, but I personally don't agree with calling children with the potential to change automatic monsters. There are ways to write about them that doesn't make light of what they've done while still retaining some sense that they're human.

This is the last post I will make before going on Hiatus and I feel I need to spread awareness to as much people as I can because this is the most disgusting, vile and downright pathetic behavior I have ever seen in my entire life and it needs to get more attention outside of the fandom because it's trying to be buried and forgotten.

Yandere dev groomed a minor.

For those who don't know who this fucking creep is (bless your soul btw), Yanderedev Aka Alex Mahan is a game developer and creator of Yandere simulator. You probably know him from "the chalice" meme that's spread around twitter and discord for sone time.

This developer was already a sketchy developer. He mistreated volunteers that helped him work on the game, acted unprofessionally towards a person with DID, having a pedophile moderate his discord and admitting his claim that "every character in Yandere simulator is 18" is bs, which if you know the sexual undertones of the game, is fucking disgusting. And finally he made suicide threats to another developer that was making a fangame that was basically doing everything he did better. (I got all of this info on the r/Osana subreddit. They have a megathread explaining this much better and the comments on said megathread gave us even more "arcs")

But the drama has since died down from what I was told and he was still being criticized but not getting as much attention as he did a few years back.

However

Back in July a youtube creator named AllyMcC was contacted by a minor named "Jane" who claimed to be groomed and sexually abused by Yanderedev/Alex Mahan on the internet. The minor provided some damming evidence that clearly showed inappropriate behavior from Alex. Much of these conversations were taking place on snapchat, with Alex demanding that the setting for messages to be deleted upon viewing be turned on. However, when Jane realized she was being groomed, she started recording the conversations they both had as well as voice calls. Of course, AllyMcC acted (albeit incredibly slowly. July?? And you published the video now?? Why....) and made a whole video detailing the allegations as well as providing the evidence. The video spread like wildfire.

However, Jane retracted her statement of Alex being a predator, claiming he is just "lonely". It is suspected that Jane was manipulated by Alex to retract her statement, as this is common behavior from grooming victims. As of now, Alex still has contact with Jane and AllyMcC states that she thinks that he is still manipulating Jane to retract more of her statement. However, more victims of Alex grooming has come forward and begged AllyMcC to keep the video up.

Alex has made a public statement in the form of a blogpost but tbh it doesn't clear anything up and it paints him as the victim in all of this. He deletes any comments on his blogpost that are negative and it's filled with a lot of victim blaming.

After Alex made that public statement, many VA's, volunteers and youtubers are jumping ship and basically disowning Alex and the project.

A few days ago, the video AllyMcC has made about the allegations was copyright striked and removed, under Jane's real name. It was later revealed that Jane herself did not file that strike, so it is suspected that Alex essentially doxxed the victim and filed a copyright strike on the video.

Luckily, the video is being mirrored and reuploaded everywhere on youtube, but it looks like Alex wants to bury the truth.

So why am I making this post? Well, There is now a petition to ban Yanderedev from patreon, essentially cutting off his only financial support for the project. We are so close to the goal but it's not enough. Please sign it and if you can please donate to the petition to help get this freak's patreon abolished and the game canceled.

Wilbur is an abuser. No his actions are not excused by autism

Since ive seen people defend Wilbur with the "he's autistic" argument, what he did is a crime. Autistic people have the ability to be abusers and this especially shows in a lot of autistics men's behaviour toward consent and pushing boundaries. Being autistic is not the reason he abused Shelby. Being autistic is not the reason he's not taking accountability for what he did. How dare you use autism to justify domestic abuse.

His "apology" raised many red flags to me. Especially the fact its so centered about "ive grown since then" shut up the conversation isn't about your personal growth but the impact of your actions. Being "disrespectful and selfish" doesn't mean you have to abuse your partner.

The mention of text messages he said could prove she consented but he won't publish them in respect for her... maybe only to me, but this sounds like fucking blackmail. Saying hey btw I have proof ...proof of what? That she maybe said yes that one time? That she loves you so it's okay? As if that justifies abuse. As if anything would justify doing that to someone.

I also want to clarify some of my posts from the other day and just like explain where my head's at. This is not a vague to anyone btw its just about me.

My posts about "no speculation" was mostly because I saw leaktwt stuff in which was pressuring Shubble, digging up extremely private information about HER, and also using tommy vlogs as evidence of something and it made me feel so sick as a victim who wouldnt wnat that to happen to me about my past abusers. It was a very triggering day for me and I regret posting so much about it as I did without that clarity.

However, I want to be clear people coming to their own quite obvious conclusions about the situation was never the problem (I have come to conclusions myself as well, though I don't think I need to state them out loud nor do I need to make a long post about what posting on my blogs gonna be like at this time I don't think that's productive for me personally). And I never NEVER meant to post as if I was supporting abusers, none of my posts were to be "neutral" or defend anyone at all and I don't think it came accross that way but I want to make sure and emphasize that in case it did.

We can live in a world where pressuring Shubble and harming her and her private information (meaning the stuff that wasn't what she talked about publicly) is bad and also moving intentionally to not platform abusers can exist in the same realm. Shubble made it clear that silence has only bolstered this man, and that he's dangerous and will hurt others again and again.

So, I just ask, going forward. Please be kind, please do not pressure Shubble at all, do not entertain leaktwt doxes/nor their intentions (which is not pro-victim). But do bolster Shubble's message and her wishes above all else. Do not let your misogyny cloud how you talk about Shubbles story. Do be cautious in platforming abusers. Do be patient with us victims who are triggered by all this in the fandom again. Do not make long posts saying you support your fav male cc and why "you'll always stand by him" and do not victim blame or try to pick apart shubbles story you equally make me sick to leaktwt doxxes and you are not pro-victim either. Do not use your stories or other peoples stories of abuse to denounce Shubble's do not attempt to discredit her because your experiences were different or you just really really want to defend your male cc.
